Additional Details

Artist Edward Lange (1846-1912) lived in Olympia from 1889 until his death, and is perhaps best remembered for his birds-eye view of the city (see Reps, Views and Viewmakers, 4162). These two charming views are unsigned but closely resemble his style, and were found by the consignor in a scrapbook with another view signed by Lange. One depicts the Mayview Tramway which carried grain down the Snake River canyon. with--Drew Crooks's recent monograph on the artist, "Edward Lange: An Early Artist of Olympia." Olympia, 2012.
